Guest art update featuring Sage Coffey

Sage Coffey and I met about a month ago, in a hotel bar during HeroesCon. While watching a dude get escorted out by three Firemen and an EMT, I got a chance to check out some of the samples she had with her. At first glance Sage’s work reminded me so much of Jessi’s own that I texted her immediately, claiming to have found her “Art Doppelganger”.

Since then I’ve had the chance to further explore Sage’s stuff, both by buying her awesome story Italian Crisis (which is like the Italian Job but with frozen treats) and checking out her Twitter and Tumblr. Her artwork is a wonderful blend of concise lines paired with exaggerated expressions, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

I mean just look at the piece she did for us. Look at it. Holy guacamole you guys. If I could do a Fear and Loathing story with Musings I would in a heartbeat. But until that promised day arrives, this will easily suffice.

See you next week,
Matt

Guest art update featuring Jamie Kinosian

To fill the short lull between issues one and two, we’ll be running some Musings related stuff drawn by people other than Jessi. Up first is our dear friend Jamie Kinosian! I met Jamie last year though Jessi, and we instantly bonded over a whole mess of awesome nerdy stuff. She’s an incredibly talented artist, and I urge you all to go check out her work. I mean just look at this…I don’t think we’ll ever truly pull off a Musings story in an established comic universe for fear of MASSIVE LEGAL DESTRUCTION, but just seeing Alyssa and M zooming through space with lantern rings is more than enough. Thanks, Jamie!

See you next week,
Matt

Welcome!

Greetings, and welcome to the online home of Musings! As you can tell, Musings is a comic. Here on the web, we call it a webcomic. If you buy it in a store though, it’s just a regular comic. Don’t worry about that too much though, it’s not important. What is important is that I do the writing, while Jessi does the artwork. (This first issue we also had the pleasure of working with one Marissa Louise as well. She contributed all the fantastic coloring.)

You’ve all probably seen a webcomic before, so I won’t bore you with a tour. Though we are trying something unique with Musings that I hope you’ll take advantage of. As per the norm for most webcomics, every Friday the story will update with a new page. But if waiting to see what happens next isn’t your thing, guess what—you don’t have to! We have the entire first issue, all twenty-two pages of it, on sale right now for only ninety-nine cents. Then when issue two is ready, we’ll put that up for ninety-nine cents too! And so on and so on until the movie deal comes through or we run out of story, whichever comes first.

Until then though, feel free to read and enjoy the adventure! Don’t hesitate leave your thoughts in the comments, or contact me at matt@musings-comic.net Jessi and I can also both be found on twitter and tumblr, so look for us there.

Until next week,

–Matt
